Rayan Hussain

I'm Rayan Hussain, a student from Lahore, Pakistan, currently completing my O-Levels and A-Levels in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics. I'm studying Japanese and have a long-term goal in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Quantum Computing.

Alongside my studies, I run Tabicuts — a small creative project that started as a video editing service for Japan travel content. It has taught me how to build for an audience, ship real products, and follow through on things I care about. The two projects on this site — a Japanese kana learning tool and a life-RPG app — were built by me, from scratch, for personal use first.

This website documents my projects, my Japanese learning progress, and my preparation for university in Japan. I am serious about this path and have been working toward it consistently.

日本の大学で量子コンピューティングを学ぶことが私の夢です。

"My dream is to study Quantum Computing at a Japanese university."

制作物 — Projects

What I build

01

Kana Speed Reader

A Japanese learning tool I built for myself to read Hiragana and Katakana faster. Flash-card trainer with speed control, romaji toggle, and a full character reference table. Built out of personal necessity — now live for anyone learning Japanese.

02

Kaizen — Life RPG

A web app that gamifies daily self-improvement. Track six life stats — Intelligence, Language, Craft, Vitality, Charisma, Discipline — earn XP, build streaks, and climb ranks. Inspired by the manhwa Solo Levelling and the Japanese concept of 改善.

How I think

01
Never afraid to be the odd one out

When everyone moved north, I moved south — quite literally. Doing things differently isn't rebellion for its own sake. It's just the only way I know how to operate.

02
I don't give into social pressure

Specialising in one niche as a 20-year-old raised a few eyebrows. That's usually a sign you're onto something worth doing.

03
Learning is the point

I learn Japanese. I build tools. I write. The editing is part of a bigger thing — staying curious, staying creative, always moving toward something.

04
Creativity over comfort

The easy path is being a generalist. The interesting path is going deep on one thing and becoming the person who does it best. I picked the interesting path.

道具 — Tools

What I use

Machine

Mac Mini M4

Apple Silicon. Fast enough to handle long-form 4K timelines without breaking a sweat.

Display

Apple Studio Display

Colour-accurate enough for grading. Clean enough to not distract from the work.

Primary Editor

Adobe Premiere Pro

Main timeline. Handles the cut, the structure, the story. Where most of the work happens.

Motion & VFX

Adobe After Effects

Motion graphics, titles, and anything that needs to move in a way the timeline can't handle.

Input

Apple Magic Keyboard & Mouse

Simple, reliable, fast. The keyboard shortcut workflow is too ingrained to change now.

Audio

Soundcore Space Q45

ANC for focus. Good enough audio separation to catch what the timeline speakers miss.
